As your resident tomboy, I give you the best gift guide of all: the secret of winning at guy gifting! Let’s face it: national television ads of sweaters and power tools just don’t cut it when it comes to buying for every guy. As a girl who has more guy friends than gals, I hear the feedback. Trust me, ladies, if you follow this guide, your guy will be majorly impressed. Gay or straight.
Gifts for Him: The Guy Who Has It All
Gawwd. These types. I’ve dated a few of them (am currently), and know exactly how frustrating it can be to choose a gift that’s meaningful and not overdone. Spare the wallets and cuff links, and opt for something more experience-based. Memories these days last forever, especially in the world of social media, so why not plan a mini-staycation or killer sight-seeing excursion? My go-to’s:
Private NYC Helicopter Ride / Maui Helicopter Ride / LA Helicopter Ride: Guys LOVE extreme shit. While some may not be on one extreme like my BASE jumper bro, any guy will appreciate something unusual and exciting. For the same price as a nice wallet or blazer, you can take a trip for two for an hour, before heading to a nice dinner. If you’re not in a destination city, make it an excuse to use his/your miles to make it a weekend getaway!
A Mini-Getaway: I LOVE using Hotels.com for package deals. You can get screaming deals to destination cities around the US at a totally reasonable rate, making it a great random weekend trip for CHEAP later in the year.
Gifts for Him: Your Gay Bestie
This is quite possibly my favorite guy to shop for. They appreciate the finer things in life, and also the maintenance that goes along with it. While it’s difficult to go with clothing (gals, YOU hate when people buy you clothes), it’s a safe bet to go with skincare or spa services. My picks:
Bluemercury: I LOVE the spa services here. I was a regular in San Francisco, and have been to the one here in New York a couple of times. It’s worth the hype. Investing in someone’s self-care is a thoughtful twist on just another skincare set. Ya KNO?
Gifts for Him: The Hypebeast
Does your man love to dress like a f*ckboy on the weekends/ every day? I know this guy better than anything because I am this dude on the inside, LMFAO. Do him proud with some of the biggest hits of the year on the streetwear pulse, and KNOW you’re getting the best price by using the apps he does to cop his own early release sneaks.
StockX: Haven’t heard of it? Click HERE NOW. This is your one-way ticket to the underground of luxury streetwear. Think of it like The Real Real for fuckboys. Want Supreme at the market rate? Sold out Jordans? You’re welcome, ladies.
Gifts for Him: The Techie
This guy can be the total gamer, the extreme sportsman who loves to document his travels or just your average software engineer. Either way, they’re all pretty much the same when it comes to what they love as gifts. Guys, if you’re reading this, sorry for exposing ya. But not really.
DJI Tello Drone: This is the best quality and sized drone for anyone learning to fly one. For less than $150, you can play around with videos and pictures without the sickening price tag of a more robust one.
